How Pollen Jotter handles your information.

Information the app uses

• Location information, if you choose GPS mode or search for a place to get local pollen forecasts.
• Health and wellness diary information you enter, such as symptom logs, medication logs, reminder history, notes, selected symptoms, and custom tags.
• App preferences such as alert thresholds, notification schedules, saved locations, and iCloud sync preference.
• Purchase status for Premium subscriptions handled through Apple In-App Purchase.
• Usage analytics and diagnostics, unless you turn them off. These are described below.

How the app uses this information

• Showing local pollen forecasts for the locations you choose.
• Sending pollen alerts, weekly reports, and reminder notifications when you enable them.
• Saving your symptom history, tags, and preferences on your device.
• Optionally syncing your profile, diary, settings, reminders, and custom data through your private iCloud account.
• Understanding which features are used, and finding and fixing crashes and errors.

Pollen Jotter is a wellness app for personal journaling. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment recommendations.

Location handling

• If you use GPS mode, the app requests When In Use location access so it can fetch a pollen forecast for your current area.
• If you do not want to grant location access, you can search for a city, suburb, or postcode instead.
• The app does not request Always location access.
• To fetch a forecast, the app sends the coordinates of the place you chose, accurate to about 10 metres, to our pollen server at api.pollenjotter.com. The server passes them to Google to get the forecast.
• Weather for your chosen place comes from Apple WeatherKit, which receives that location.

Storage and sync

Your data is primarily stored on your device.

If you enable iCloud sync, Pollen Jotter stores supported records in your private iCloud account using CloudKit so the same data can appear on your Apple devices signed into that account. iCloud sync is optional and can be turned off in the app.

Pollen forecast caches and other transient app data may remain local-only and are not treated as part of your synced diary record.

Purchases and subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit and the App Store. Pollen Jotter does not receive your full payment card details.

The app may store enough purchase status information to unlock subscribed features and restore access on this device.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. It receives your purchase and subscription details along with a random identifier created by the app, not your name or email address.

Sharing and third parties

Pollen Jotter does not sell your personal information.

Pollen Jotter does not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app tracking.

These service providers process data so the app can work:

• Apple: iCloud and CloudKit, location services, WeatherKit, notifications, and App Store purchases.
• Google Pollen API: the coordinates and language of each forecast request, sent through our server.
• Cloudflare: runs our pollen server, which handles those coordinates, your IP address, and a random device identifier. Requests may be logged to keep the service running and protect it from abuse.
• Google Maps: when you open the pollen map, it receives the map area you are viewing and technical details from your device, such as its IP address.
• RevenueCat: subscription management, as described above.
• PostHog: usage analytics and diagnostics, as described below.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States.

Usage analytics and diagnostics

Pollen Jotter uses PostHog, hosted in the United States, to understand which features are used and to diagnose problems. Analytics are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time. The app uses a random identifier rather than your name, email address, or Apple Account.

Information sent to PostHog may include:

• Actions in the app, such as tabs opened, onboarding steps, settings changed, and paywall and purchase steps.
• The fact that you logged a symptom or medication, or created a custom tag, without saying which one.
• The country of a location you save, and whether you have Premium.
• Your IP address, which PostHog uses to estimate your approximate location, such as your country, region, city, or postcode area.
• App, device, and operating system details, along with crash and error reports.

We do not intentionally send PostHog your symptom or medication names, severity ratings, diary notes, or exact coordinates. Session replay is not enabled, and this information is not used for advertising.

To turn analytics off, open Settings in the app, go to Privacy, and switch off Share optional usage analytics. Turning it off stops future collection. To ask about deleting analytics already collected, contact privacy@pollenjotter.com.

Your choices

• Stop sharing your device's location by turning GPS off and searching for a place instead.
• Turn notifications on or off in the app and in iOS Settings.
• Disable iCloud sync in the app.
• Turn off usage analytics in the app's Privacy settings.
• Manage or cancel subscriptions in Apple ID > Subscriptions.
